Classic Sugar Cookies

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp. baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 cup I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!® Spread
  • 1 cup sugar, divided
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°. Grease baking sheets; set aside.
  2. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in medium bowl; set aside.
  3. Beat I Can't Believe It's Not Butter!® Spread with 2/3 cup sugar in large bowl with electric mixer until light and fluffy, about 5 minutes. Beat in egg and vanilla, scraping sides occasionally. Beat in flour mixture. Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls, 2 inches apart on prepared baking sheets.
  4. Place remaining 1/3 cup sugar in small bowl. Moisten flat bottom of a glass with water, then dip moistened bottom in sugar. Gently flatten 1 cookie with glass. Repeat with remaining cookies, dipping glass just in sugar before flattening each cookie.
  5. Bake 10 to 12 minutes or until bottoms are lightly golden. Let stand 2 minutes on wire rack; remove from sheets and cool completely.
